according to Robert Martino's Facebook page, the mini jazz band of the 1970's is having a reunion tour in April.
If Henry Celestin and Eddy Wooley aren't part of this reunion, it's going to be pointless. While Robert Martino was an original member of the band, he wasn't around for the majority of the Les Difficiles existence.
Les Gypsy reunion tour, then Scorpio, then Les Difficiles?
Wasn't there a rivalry between Gypsies and Difficiles?
As the story goes a young Robert Martino decided he wanted to leave Les Difficiles to create his own band after the maestro/singer Henry Celestin refused to play a bolero. A few other members of Les Difficiles left with Robert Martino to start Les Gypsies, but those members were only on the debut Gypsies album.
Martino only played on two Difficiles albums, the first one and the last one which was a reunion album in the 80's. I think I remember hearing (I'm not 100% percent about this) that the songs on the last Difficiles album really should've been the the groups second album but Martino's departure caused those songs to be scrapped.
Gypsies have boleros... from Difficiles I can't remember right now.
But they were able to play very slow compas while it sounds good.
